VINTAGE MOLDAVIAN KILIM 325 x 197 cm

This is an authentic Moldovan kilim dating back to the middle of the 20th century.

Made of wool, hand-woven, it stands out, like all carpets in this region, by a dark background, usually black with large floral or vegetal motifs, very colorful. On some pieces, floral and geometric motifs intertwine.

Originally, these woven pieces were used as decoration on the walls of wooden houses, hence the difficulty today of finding carpets of small dimensions. In addition to their aesthetic functions, these kilims were then used as thermal insulators. They also showed a sign of richness.

It is today the trendy carpet par excellence! Precious carpet, with dense and resistant flat weaving, it has a very assertive character. In a living room, a bedroom, a corridor, an office, it will transform the atmosphere of your interior whether bohemian or classic. 

All our old carpets are restored and cleaned by a specialist. Also despite their age, they are in perfect condition.
